Treat our flag properly

Although it was nice to see that two local senior living facilities are hosting a flag exchange June 11 through June 15, supported by local Cub Scout Troop 481, It’s too bad they chose to display a photo in their ad of a couple wrapped in the flag as if it were a blanket (Valley Voice, June 7).

I would encourage people to spend a few minutes researching our U.S. Flag Code in order to become familiar with how to treat, display and honor our flag. The United States flag is never to be worn as a garment, used as a blanket, or for similar uses. Part of honoring our country is honoring its flag, and with Flag Day fast approaching we should all know how best to do this.

Thank you.
