Vote-by-mail is secure

It seems that Barbara Green does not understand how voting in Washington works (“Prevent voter fraud,” June 8, 2018).

First and foremost, only those citizens who have previously registered to vote will receive a ballot to mail back. Everyone doesn’t just get one. And the returned ballot, with your signature, is verified by election officials against the signature on your registration, as well as the postmark.

I remember going to the polling place to vote, but I was never asked for any photo or other ID. I just signed my name on my line. A person can read all about how safe, secure and well-verified our voting system is by going to the secretary of state page on the internet and reading frequently asked questions.
