Hatred begets hatred

During the Holocaust, Jewish babies were ripped from their mother’s arms and killed. Even if children did survive, they were separated from their parents, then sent to concentration camps where they were either murdered or at best, starved and tortured.

We, as a nation, were horrified to learn of the atrocities that the German people allowed in following their leader, Adolf Hitler. Why, then, are we not horrified at what the Trump administration is doing with immigrant families? Innocent children are being taken from their parents’ arms and put in cages, or left to sleep on floors in warehouses. Some are being held in prisons. This is extremely traumatizing to these children and will affect them the rest of their lives. What was their crime? These families just were trying to find safety or employment in a country that can’t find enough employees for open jobs. Hatred will beget hatred.

And our GOP Congress, including Cathy McMorris Rodgers, say and do nothing! How she can purport to be “family loving” and yet ignore such inhumanity just underlines her hypocrisy. Instead of trying to fix our immigration policy, our lawmakers are committing crimes against humanity. I am appalled, ashamed and embarrassed.
