Thank you, Happy Watkins

I was very pleased to read in the Sunday paper today (Feb. 25, 2018) about the life and career of the Rev. Happy Watkins.

My wife and I moved to Spokane from Portland in 2006. It wasn’t long after that when we learned of Mr. Watkins’ impact on our community through the Spokesman-Review. Since that time he has (deservedly) received much press in the years that have followed.

I work as a waiter and had the pleasure of being his server a short while ago. He had just spoken at a civic event and was dining afterward by himself.

I am certain that he has enriched the lives of many people throughout his life. I have met him but once, and he certainly enriched mine. Sometimes you just know when you have met a truly great person.

Thank you, Reverend.
