Don’t blame the windows

WSU spent $25,000 to determine how windows and beds can prevent 18+ year-old university students from falling out of windows. Are WSU administrators, parents and students really naive and ignorant enough to blame the windows and beds for such injuries? Surely you jest!

Serious falls by WSU and UI students are a stunningly regular occurrence. Many involve alcohol … in nearly all situations, alcohol and drugs are the main culprits, not the windows and beds. Mary Jo Gonzales, WSU vice president, says “We never want to see a student get hurt. This is why we want an objective assessment.” Tell me how many injuries in last 25 years have not involved alcohol. Your objective assessment will find that very few, if any, did not involve alcohol or drugs.

Maybe it is time for the student, parents and administrators to look in the mirror for the objective assessment.
