Brown speaks from the heart
I’ve attended three of Lisa Brown’s town hall meetings. I’ve never listened to a former university professor who is as wise, articulate and yet down-to-earth as Lisa Brown. One can only imagine what a delight she must have been as a teacher. She speaks with no script or prepared remarks in front of her. She fields questions and responds with simple, easy to understand words that seem to come as much from her heart as from her head, rather unusual for someone with a Ph.d. in economics.
I did some research and discovered that our Congress has five members with Ph.d.s. Certainly we could use some greater quantity of intelligence in that other Washington but this woman speaks from a heart as big as the Northwest. She speaks of her childhood in rural Illinois, her struggles as a single parent and her incredible compassion for ordinary people like you and me. No one needs a ticket to meet her. Anyone who wants to make a brief remark or ask a question can do so. There are no words of hatred or talking points. Only a message of hope and caring for all.
