Divisive words

Dave McCann (“Creeping progressivism,” March 8) uses divisive words like “big government policies” and “leftist” in an attempt to scare us into resisting “creeping progressivism.” What he is actually asking is that we suspend critical thinking and common sense in order to vote against our own self-interest and against the well-being of the communities we live in.

It’s a no-brainer that we are all better off with drinkable water, renewable clean energy, clean air to breathe, reduced gun violence, safe streets, consumer protections, government transparency, net neutrality, a strong public education system, a safe food supply and affordable health care that includes mental health treatment programs.
