Brown’s real world experience

Joseph Machala, in a letter published on March 14 (“Brown’s past with police and fire”), calls out Lisa Brown as a “career politician,” and apparently thinks that label is reason enough to disqualify candidate Brown for consideration to replace Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

If Mr. Machala, a retired police officer, did just a little bit of digging, he would discover that Rep. McMorris Rodgers has never, in her entire adult life, held a job outside of the political world. Candidate Brown, on the other hand, has years of experience teaching at the university level and as chancellor of Washington State University - Spokane. I might also point out that even as she represented Eastern Washington in the state legislature, candidate Brown continued teaching; the term “citizen legislator” would be more accurate.

I would urge you to consider the candidate with actual real-world experience to represent us in Washington DC: Lisa Brown.
