Feminism is about equality

Feminism: the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.

Honestly, as a freshman in high school I never had a full understanding of what being a feminist actually stood for, because no one ever brought it up in school. All I ever heard was on social media - and sometimes social media can really blow things out of proportion - and it is hard to tell what is real or fake, and what is good or bad.

But just reading that one definition I understand that it’s just wanting equal rights for both women and men. Sometimes I think it can be overseen as woman should have more rights than men, and I guess it does depend on what you believe in, but if you call yourself a feminist you want every man and women to be equal no matter their race, gender or sexuality.
