RR crossing poorly done

I’m disappointed by the rebuilt railroad crossing at Argonne in Millwood. It is now a speed bump rather than the level road it was before the Union Pacific Railroad made changes. You’d think that after months of planning and closing Argonne for three days, they would have gotten it right.

Union Pacific claims the transitions between the old pavement and new tracks are perfectly OK for a 30 mph road. With over 50 years of driving experience in every state of the USA, I can say with confidence that it is not OK. The northbound curb lane could be a safety issue for snow plow drivers. The people in charge of this should be embarrassed.

The cavalier attitude of the Union Pacific toward Millwood provides insight to the oil train derailment and fire in Mosier, Oregon. The Union Pacific talks about safety first and caring for communities, but their stance on the Argonne crossing says otherwise and actions speak louder than words. The stakes at this crossing are small compared to a major derailment, but it sure makes me wonder where else the Union Pacific has cut corners on maintenance.
