What about the deficit?

Well, another election occurred yesterday. All of the candidates stated what they were going to do if elected. However no one has mentioned what to do about the deficit.

I have an idea. Let the senators and representatives pay it since they are responsible for this fiasco. For every year that a senator or representative is in office, deduct 1 percent from their pay. Treat it like a garnishment so it will still have to be taxed.

For instance, as of January 2019, Sen. Patty Murray would have 26 percent deducted from her salary, Sen. Maria Cantwell would have 18 percent deducted from her salary, and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ amount would be 14 percent. If said senator or represented declared bankruptcy this debt would be handled the way student loans are. They created the mess, let them pay.

For the record I sent a copy of this proposal to Sen. Murray’s office, Sen. Maria Cantwell’s office, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ office about four weeks ago. I heard nothing from Sens. Murray and Cantwell. I received a generic response from Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers. The office replied that they would review what I had to say.
