A grateful veteran

I am a U.S. Navy submarine veteran. I just returned from an Inland Northwest Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. They flew us to D.C. to see all the war memorials in a two-day trip. The volunteers did all they could to make the trip enjoyable and informative.

Upon our return to the Spokane Airport there must have been 1,000 people there to welcome us home, waving flags thanking us for our service and shaking our hands. What an emotional experience: children, parents and grandparents all thanking and recognizing our service. The lump in my throat made it impossible to speak and the tears in my eyes impossible to see.

Thank you Honor Flight and thank you citizens of Spokane for your thanks and recognition.
