Unfair rent increases

Several mobile and manufactured home parks have had substantial rent increases this year and notices have just gone out for another huge increase for next year. What are seniors in this community supposed to do? Rents are $600 to $800 and sometimes cover nothing more than the privilege of living there.

Rent increases of $50/month, or more, each year are a lot when on a fixed income, but the owner says, “If you don’t like it, move.” A pretty cold attitude when people are just trying to live comfortably their remaining

years.

Please go to the Washington state Legislature website ASAP and tell them you support a bill like House Bill 2583. This was a bill supporting affordable housing. You have to speak up. If you don’t have a computer, please write your representatives. There’s strength in numbers folks, and you must make your voices heard if you want change.
