Cathy leads from the heart

I was very moved and impressed to hear Cathy McMorris Rodgers speak out in support of all human life at a recent event.

For Cathy, the humanity of the unborn is clearly a very personal issue. Her son Cole was born with Down syndrome. Cole was at the event, and it would be hard to imagine a more engaging child.

Many of us — actually about half of the U.S. population — believe passionately in the right to life for every baby, and are devastated by the millions of children lost to abortion, including far too many with Down syndrome.

It was very powerful to hear Cathy speak about this issue with such compassion and heart. She has a real understanding of the challenges that families can face, also great optimism and positivity.

Cathy knows well that sometimes life does not turn out how we expected. One of her remarks stayed with me: “Just because something is hard, doesn’t mean that it’s not good!”

Cathy is a shining beacon on pro-life issues for our community and our nation. I will be proudly supporting this strong, leader for her re-election to Congress.
