Support bonds, learning
I belong to an extended family of lifelong public library patrons. My adult and nearly adult children are K-12 Spokane Public Schools alumnus and current student. Though my children have outgrown sitting in Mom or Dad’s lap through story time, we still make trips to the library for materials and programs.
Please vote yes for both the Schools and Libraries Facility Improvement Bonds. I am excited about the new partnership between the city, the library and our schools. These partnered efforts are a creative approach to meet the requirements of the state mandated reduction in class size and the growing demand for library resources. I value the cost-effective use of existing city property. I also appreciate that the bond timeline takes advantage of a tax reduction from the McCleary decision, along with the opportunity for state matching funds for schools.
Remember to mail your ballot by November 6th. In voting yes for education facilities bonds, we are exercising continued care of literacy in our community, our under-served populations, our local economy, and our future workforce. I urge you to join in support of lifelong learning in Spokane by voting yes for Schools, and yes for Libraries.
