Denounce hateful officials

I am very concerned about the vile rhetoric coming from state Rep. Matt Shea, 4th Legislative District. Mr. Shea repeatedly says the “left is persecuting, terrorizing, and smearing Christians about health care and abortion,” without any evidence for such hideous accusations.

Shea makes more false claims that “the left is calling all Christians white nationalists.”

These sorts of disparaging, unfounded remarks are both dangerous and could very well incite violence in Eastern Washington by Shea’s gun-toting followers. Shea also says “the media and the left” are responsible for defending tyranny and that all journalists are “dirty, godless, hateful people” - again, without any evidence to back up his loathsome allegations.

Disparaging the media, fear mongering, identifying different groups as threats and sowing distrust in the government are not the traits of a legitimate state representative.

Even Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich disavows Shea in his Aug. 5, 2018 Spokesman article, saying “Matt Shea is a cancer, and the things that he has done has done nothing but divide the county, and this nation.”

Eastern Washington deserves someone who will represent everyone, not someone who obfuscates the truth and preaches hate.

I encourage everyone to vote for Ted Cummings.
