Mueller didn’t clear Trump

I read Mr. Lythgoe’s recent letter (“Democrats, media don’t care,” March 28) with some interest. There were a few problems with what I read. First, the Mueller report did not find Mr. Trump “not guilty” of obstruction of justice. The media and Democrats have not been name-calling and lying for two years. The Constitution states that Congress is meant to investigate.

As to Mr. Lythgoe’s request for an apology, I am still waiting for Republicans, particularly (Cathy) McMorris Rodgers’ good friend Trey Gowdy, to apologize to Hillary Clinton for years of investigations into her emails and her actions as secretary of state. All those years, and all those millions of dollars that were spent in those investigations, which came to absolutely nothing. And, rather than an apology, what we got and are still getting was “lock her up.”

I agree that the media should base stories on facts, and hope that Fox News will eventually do that. I agree that much work needs to be done to ensure that this country is the best it can be. I do think, however, that a huge move in that direction would occur if Mr. Trump will simply stop lying and stop tweeting insults and lies. I agree that the people of this country need to cooperate rather than fight. We can do that if we try to keep open minds.
