Hostility toward Union Gospel

In your April 11 article “City to review deal with Union Gospel Mission,” I read that City Council members have stalled the land swap deal because of concerns such as issues with the Mission’s church policies and beliefs.

In my opinion this hostility toward the Union Gospel Mission is similar to the anger and protestations that starved the Boy Scouts of America of funding / meeting spaces / and their very structure over the past few decades. I wish so-called progressive politicians and many of their followers will someday become more tolerant and less angry of other people’s views and beliefs. I hope Spokane will someday return to a City Council that is not so concerned with throwing out the baby with the supposed environmentally-incorrect bathwater.
