A fall evening at Albi

I never had the opportunity to enjoy Joe Albi Stadium with my dad. He passed away when I was 9. My wonderful neighbor took me to a football game when I was in the fifth grade. It was magical. I could not believe how big and beautiful the stadium was back then. I feel the same way 46 years later. My sadness and broken heart was overjoyed with laughter and happiness, even if just for a fall evening at Albi.

Soon Spokane will lose a cherished veterans monument and treasured gift to the city. This is such a disrespect to towards honored veterans as well as towards Mr. Joe Albi and the citizens who fund-raised $600,000 to build the stadium. Such a shame.

I understand our lives will never be like the past. We are so busy and have strangle hold on our cell phones. Our society has lost ouch with history, respect and honor. Why do we always have to have brand new? We need to slow down, honor veterans and people struggling with health issues. Respect the past and somehow enjoy the simpler way of life, even if just for a fall evening at Albi.

Years after my neighbor gave me that gift of kindness I was able to give back. He was non longer able to drive so I took him to a game at Albi. We laughed, we cried …”One last time!”
