More taxes and regulations

You might have noticed that the local sales tax was recently increased again 0.1%, to 8.9% by the Spokane Transit Authority. Taxes, permits, utility bills and license fees are increasing locally and statewide.

The majority in control of our City Council has apparently come up with another progressive socialist idea to raise taxes and redistribute the wealth of our community. We are being told that their solution to the transient and homeless problem they have helped to create is to now implement a new city department for civil-rights and housing. This will result in more regulations, a larger city bureaucracy, more litigation and lawsuits, and more infringement on our property rights.

Like the War on Poverty that has led to more poverty, our City Council’s war on homelessness will only lead to more homelessness. If you want to make Spokane a safe and affordable place to live again I urge you to spport Mike Fagan for council president, Tony Kiepe for Council District 2, Tim Benn for Council District 1, and Jeff Martin for Council District 3.
