Respect the uniform

After seeing the assault on the NYPD officers with buckets and water and their reaction I was sick and embarrassed. They should have called for backup and then arrested the guilty parties. Walking away drenched was a disgrace to the uniform.

The response from the union president was weak, stating restraint is what was needed. Wrong! The uniform is to be respected or next time it will be an assault with paint or acid or etc…

I would only hope our city leaders would back our police not like New York but so far only one has stated she would be pro-police. Hopefully this is a true promise. As a retired police officer, I would have never backed down from these thugs as it clearly shows no respect and cowardice.

Guess I’m old school where respect meant something and I was proud to serve my community and the rule of law meant something to the community.
