STA needs parking enforcement

I found Shawn Vestal’s all electric bus city line column was well needed. (Especially with the pristine new STA electric bus barn at Cedar and Sharpe). But if the Spokane Transit Authority wants to rid itself of the loser-of-driver’s-license-cruiser image then STA should convince the city of Spokane to curtail residential, street-clogging on-street parking. (I can show you vehicles that celebrated several birthdays since last moved in 99201 and 99202.) Evidently the city cares not. Parking is both lax and plentiful in Spokane compared to any mass transit city so why use mass transit?

The very scarcity of on-street or any reasonable parking is why mass transit is a must in NYC and why a vehicle is an unrealistic burden. Curtailing neighborhood car blight in Spokane would force commuters to finally rely on STA buses. And that would make our city safer, more beautiful and user friendly. And I might see neighborhood houses again.
