‘Chain migration’ hypocrisy
Send her back! Yes, send Melania back. Melania came to this country in 1996 as a young model with the help of a modeling agency run by a friend of Trump. Initially, with a visitor visa and no work permit, she was illegally paid $20,000 for 10 modeling jobs. That was against the existing immigration law. This violation would have technically prohibited her from later changing her immigration status in the U.S.
Given Trump’s anti-immigrant stands he obviously has no problem with that illegality in his family. In January 2019 Trump declared “chain migration” laws (where U.S. citizens and permanent residents can bring family members to the U.S.) “sick” and “demented,” which of course was directed toward Latinos and people from s***hole countries.
But miraculously Melania sponsored her parents to become green card holders using exactly the chain migration process. Her parents are now seeking to become naturalized U.S. citizens. Interesting also is that her father is a former member of the Yugoslav Communist Party.
Hypocrisy is Trump’s signature.
