CMR’s poor performance

I hope the voting public and The Spokesman-Review were paying attention to the town hall meeting Cathy McMorris Rodgers held at Gonzaga University. Her responses to important questions were woefully inadequate, especially from a leader of the Republican Party.

She supposedly condemns Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric but refuses to stand up and rebuke him by voting for a simple resolution to censure his hateful language directed at her colleagues. She was asked what plan she has to replace the Affordable Care Act. to which she responded with a completely incoherent answer, basically saying the status quo, millions of Americans without insurance, is just fine with her. She has no plans at all for health care after 11 years of touting “repeal and replace”! That alone should be a red flag to anyone expecting their representative to work for us all.

Question after question seemed to leave her confused and rambling about what she supports, yet she offered little hope of an actual path forward to address our many problems. I was shocked at her inability to articulate a coherent response to almost all of the questions.

When she runs for reelection next time, I hope the public remembers her night at Gonzaga. It’s time to elect a representative that is on top of the issues and offers solutions to them. We don’t have that now. I would hope The Spokesman-Review is carefully examining why they have endorsed her totally inadequate work in our district. We deserve much more from our representative.
