A solution to jail crowding

After reading the article regarding the new county jail (“Activists denounce new county jail,” June 21) and how these legally innocent people are locked up and waiting for a trial, I would suggest that all of the people at the protest and the members of the Unitarian Universalist churches sign up to be a mentor for these people that are charged with a crime.

I would also like to encourage them to let them live with them instead of a jail cell since they are innocent and just awaiting trial. This will solve the overcrowding of the jails and make sure they are safe, since you will be mentoring them.

This is certainly a more humanitarian behavior than protesting, as that doesn’t help these innocent people sitting in jail waiting for a trial date, as it would be much more humanitarian for them to be mentored by you folks that feel they have been unjustly targeted by our judicial system.
