Stop blaming homeless

I believe people must look closely at our candidates and their platforms, and if elected, how those platforms will reflect upon our community.

Our city, along with most cities, has an issue with homeless citizens. Nadine Woodward’s sole policy is to blame the homeless and displaced, accusing them of moral deficiencies, i.e. drug addiction. This is a baseless and vicious attack. Nadine obviously has no supporting research to support this claim. Can Nadine cite how many of our homeless are veterans, possibly suffering from PTSD? Can she state how many are homeless due to a greedy for profit medical system, the number one cause of bankruptcies?

How many are victims of domestic violence or were abused as children? How many are mentally ill through no fault of their own? How many are oppressed people of color? Nadine condemns drug addicts, but gives greedy pharmaceutical companies a free pass. Nadine’s attitude increases the discrimination against people who through no fault of their own find themselves vulnerable and in pain. It is at least in part the fault of a failing economic system that makes people homeless and addicted. She does not represent the true nature not Spokane.
