Don’t worry about I-976

I-976 recently was voted to repeal nearly all license fees to a staggering $3 billion hole in the construction and maintenance budget, which also funds ferries and buses.

You don’t ride a bus? Not yet; your car is still operating. Many people who ride the bus make minimum wage and cannot afford a car or to keep one on the road. And all those cars off the road helps ease congestion, but who cares? You don’t if you voted Yes on I-976.

Will people lose their jobs if they can’t get to work since bus routes will be cut? Will they be homeless when that happens? We don’t have an issue with homeless, do we? It could be tied to a job that was lost.

And potholes? We don’t have many of those. But those 15 bridges that resemble the Trent Street bridge near Hamilton which is 119 years old and was due to be replaced is delayed AGAIN! It is past its lifespan by quite a lot. It was just not built to have the heavy traffic and weight it endures daily. But you can use Martin Luther King Way or use Mission Avenue bridge near Avista, a little unhandy but you saved some money, right? Don’t give the streets, roads, bridges ferries or buses a second thought. You saved some money after all, and those fix-it garages (tires, shocks, alignment, etc) are happy, aren’t you?
