Republicans staying quiet

Republican members of Congress remain silent while their colleagues continue to spread the bogus conspiracy theory that Ukraine was responsible for the foreign interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections. This is an example of Republicans supporting the Russian intelligence service disinformation campaign specifically directed against the U.S. in 2019.

In January of 2017, the director of national intelligence issued an unclassified document which outlined Russian efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential election. This report included an analytical assessment drafted and coordinated by the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. It drew on intelligence information collected and disseminated by those three agencies about the Russian operations against the U.S.

This was followed by a grand jury indictment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in February 2018 of named Russian companies and Russian individuals. They were charged in the operation of a troll farm in St. Petersburg, Russia, and operations in the U.S. for the purpose of influencing the presidential election in 2016.

Will Rep. Cathy Morris Rodgers challenge her fellow Republicans or remain silent?
