Gas tax for infrastructure

A better solution to the funding of transportation infrastructure would be a healthy gas/diesel tax equal to the shortfall. This would encourage drivers and businesses alike to utilize the most fuel efficient vehicles. Climate change is real so this change would be like killing two birds with one stone. Bad analogy; bird and insect species are going extinct at an unprecedented rate.

I personally favor a carbon tax and an income tax but those are a bit more complicated to administer. A gas tax would be easy.
