Too much talking

The politicians and various professionals talk and talk and talk on the news on TV and in the newspaper. They talk about all kinds of problems both locally and on a world scale. They talk about North Korea having nuclear missiles, illegal immigration, homelessness, school shootings and a litany of other problems.

Then, there’s climate change. It’s on the news every night. They talk and talk and talk. The experts warn that we have a rapidly closing window of opportunity to reduce carbon emissions before certain areas of the planet become uninhabitable. Talk, talk, talk.

Let me imagine this: a time in the not-too-distant future when a spacecraft arrives on Earth and finds a lifeless, dull world where once was a beautiful planet teeming with life.

They happen to find a time capsule, and inside it are pictures of a lush, green world with billions of healthy creatures living all over it. They also find a simple message: “To Whoever finds this. They talked and talked and talked and did nothing.”
