Things Christians oppose

It is understandable to me that many Christians might actively oppose abortion in relation to the commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.”

What is not understandable to me is that they do not become equally active in opposition to capital punishment, to sending young people to die in wars, and to maintaining gun access laws which allow the continued mass murders for which our country is rapidly becoming famous. How can this be?
