Pelosi’s earned a bonus

My friend Howard Hamby wrote in “Why are they getting paid?”(Jan. 26) that Pelosi and Trump should not get paid until the shutdown is over.

Howard should know that the Republicans took complete charge of both houses of Congress and the executive branch in January 2017. At that point they could have simply passed a bill for the construction of the wall. Since then we have had January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and then, in December, the GOP threw up their collective hands and simply gave up trying to find a wall solution. And so they shut down the government.

In January 2019, Nancy Pelosi became speaker of the house. Three weeks later the wall was dead and the shutdown was over.

Howard, I suggest we give a bonus to Nancy Pelosi. Wouldn’t you agree?
