Prop 1, for our safety

I am writing today to express my support for Proposition 1- Maintenance and Operation Levy for Spokane County Fire District 8. The levy will continue the funding necessary to maintain fire protection and emergency medical services within the district, ensure each station is staffed with a paramedic, and betters response reliability. This levy is not a new tax and replaces the current voter-approved levy, which is expiring in 2019.

This levy funds advanced emergency medical response paramedics around the clock. Paramedics bring the services of an emergency room into your living room. In addition, these paramedics are cross-trained as firefighters to ensure that enough personnel will arrive at each scene rapidly and allow the district to staff each station with the appropriate number of firefighters.

According to state and federal safety laws, some steps necessary to fight a fire are curtailed until an adequate number of firefighters are on the scene. Adequate staffing is addressed if the maintenance and operation levy is passed.

Spokane Fire District 8 provides excellent and professional fire fighting services for our community. I am trusting that you will vote yes for Proposition 1, the Maintenance and Operation Levy. Please vote for your safety!
