Investigate abuse

This letter is written in response to “Sexual abuse report roils Southern Baptists,” (The Spokesman-Review, Feb. 11.).

This is a good example of male religious leaders and their power over children and women. The article is just the beginning of the expose of the the harm inflicted upon the victims. Just like the Roman Catholic hierarchy and now the Southern Baptist’s leaders, always asking for forgiveness. If it weren’t for the victims coming out about the crimes they had to endure, they would have been swept under the carpet. The abusers would have kept on abusing.

Hopefully the AG’s and law enforcement agencies will start taking on investigations into these crimes. These abusers should be brought before a court of law and prosecuted. The abused should be compensated for the pain and suffering they have to endure for the rest of their lives. I also believe that crimes against humanity happen in other religions as well.
