Oversight at last

Democrats are in control again. A government of laws is being restored at last. The U.S. House of Representatives has again accepted its constitutional responsibility for oversight. One House committee is demanding accountability for ripping thousands of refugee children from their parents, then “losing” them. Outrageous. Other committees are trying to restore and protect voting rights and get truthful answers on financial entanglements of the Trump family and members of his Cabinet with Russian oligarchs and the murderous Saudi regime.

All this work is long overdue, but a Republican majority has worked for two years to hide the ugly truths about the grifter they helped put in the Oval office, then protected from oversight.

What should follow these long overdue real hearings is an equally serious investigation of Trump’s enablers the past two years. We need to hold accountable GOP leadership from House Speaker Paul Ryan to Rep. Devin Nunes to GOP Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers. They are as responsible for these outrages as Donald Trump and his Cabinet.

Thank God the Dems are back in control. I hope they hold the GOP leadership of the past two years responsible for these outrages, as should all of us voters.
