Give alternatives a taste

In response to “Farm groups seek to protect a word: meat,” Jan. 14:

Why oh why would anyone but the meanest animal-hater choose to eat a product that is unhealthy, causes massive animal cruelty and pollution, and displaces and drives wild horses and buffalo to extinction when humane and wholesome plant-based alternatives are now so readily available in grocery stores and restaurants? These new products are obviously delicious if the livestock industry is so threatened as to demand laws to protect themselves from “veggie burgers, tofu dogs and other items that look and taste like real meat.”

If you have tried meat alternatives in the past and didn’t like them, try again. You might be surprised …
