School board appreciation

On behalf of the students, parents and staff involved in our public school systems, I would like to recognize the Nine Mile Falls School District Board of Directors as well as those across the region, state and nation for their commitment and dedication. By Proclamation of the Governor, January is School Board Recognition Month. Now is the perfect time to appreciate those locally-elected officials and volunteers who selflessly give their time and energy in support of high-quality public schooling for our youth.

School boards are charged with making decisions that are sometimes quite difficult and/or require sifting through a great deal of information. They also bear responsibility for developing a vision that will guide the school district during difficult times while also keeping an eye on the future. Through collaboration as a team, and with school district staff, student and community input, their governance and advocacy are building the future of education. I encourage you to take a minute to call or email your school board members to thank them for their willingness to play a critical civic role that helps form the bedrock of our democracy: public education.

Brian Talbott, Superintendent (and parent) NMFSD
