It’s 2019. Now what?

January is the month of the Wolf Moon in the tradition of Indigenous people. January has a total eclipse of the moon, a blood moon. Nature gives us the opportunity to experience, reflect make commitments, take action for ourselves, our families and our communities from local to national and international.

Our most urgent challenge is to return to the core center of our humanity, our principles, rather than live in fear and chaos of the present moment.

It is before us; we are invited to welcome to participate in events of the new year: Indigenous people’s ceremony and march, Women’s march, Dr. Martin Luther King events. Participation is the launching point of action for change. Each of us faces the challenges.

Will 2019 be the year we do something new, uncomfortable to learn about our neighbors, join with them as sisters and brothers in unity getting to know one another, act together in solidarity for the good of all, not continue in the darkness we now experience? It takes risking our comfort … talking with others to find our common ground, volunteering in a new community to learn from one another; speaking out into the silence and darkness about the suffering of others, bringing to light our compassion, our courage and our goal of unity in our community.

Now what? What will you do in 2019?
