Pig cartoon had more options

In the June 18 edition of The Spokesman-Review, the editorial cartoon on the opinion page by Lisa Benson, “Lipstick on the Pig” was spot-on, having the donkey and elephant applying lipstick and kissing the pig with deficit spending on it. She could have labeled the pig corporations, military industrial complex, fossil fuel and health insurance companies, big pharma, PACs, corporate media, lobbyists and the big donors. Let’s face it. The Republican and Democratic parties are corrupt to the core, and as crooked as a country road. No wonder the USA is on the way to becoming another empire, on the back page of history books.
