Don’t encourage illegal crossings
In response to Jacki Putnam’s letter (“We must not incarcerate children,” June 30): First, the children in question are criminals.
Second, if we release them where will they go?
The answer is simple: Either keep them out in the first place or send them home.
The author of the letter is correct about one thing, this is a horrible time in our country, but it is because we have chosen to ignore the law not because we are cruel people. We need to support our legal immigration system, not the mass chaos we have created by encouraging illegal border crossings.
