Welcome, James Lowe

Thank you, Spokesman-Review for front page coverage of the introduction of the new Spokane Symphony Music director, James Lowe, to the city (“Spokane Symphony names James Lowe as next music director,” June 25).

We have been privileged and proud to have Music Director Eckart Preu with us for 15 years. He brought the orchestra to the high level of excellence that it is today

As a member of the Spokane Symphony Associates – the volunteers behind fundraisers like Christmas Tree Elegance - I was able to meet James last February during the selection process. I have found him to be warm, personable and down-to-earth, with a wonderful sense of humor. He is a very talented musician, well-known and respected as an international conductor.

I invite everyone to meet him and hear how great the Spokane Symphony sounds under his direction. Come to a Masterworks, a Pops or maybe the Movies and Music series. There is something on the calendar for everyone. James Lowe is going to have a big impact on the cultural life of our region - be part of it.

Welcome to Spokane, James Lowe!
