Once a Republican

I just celebrated my 85th birthday, so I have lived through many elections in my lifetime. I have voted in every single one and was, in 1960, the Republican Precinct chairman and worked very hard for the Republican candidate for president.

Until a few years ago, I was a lifelong Republican. No more! the Republican senators have become puppets of the president. It matters not how much the president lies, makes poor decisions, fires anyone who doesn’t walk in lock-step with him, or puts his own interest before those of this great country. He is taken in by anyone’s flattery and lets it sway his ability to make intelligent decisions for the good of our democracy.

I just wonder when those who elected Trump will come to realize that he isn’t fit to be president regardless of how many conservative judges he appoints. I am a strong Christian and believe in the sanctity of life; however, I also believe that a woman, not the government, has the right to decide if she is able physically, emotionally, or financially, to bear a child.

Wake up America, before our beloved country becomes unrecognizable! I pray it isn’t already too late!
