Abortion laws, unexpected results

An Alabama woman was charged for the death of her unborn when someone else fired the fatal shot. This is an unexpected result of granting the unborn the legal rights of a born person. We can expect more surprises if this kind of law prevails.

Human life began a very long time ago. No human life would exist except for the life of those who went before. Every future person is already a potential person. The original right to life is not for potential people. It is for those who are living and present.

We have a powerful and natural urge to procreate. Too often there is pregnancy without preparation for parenting. This is good for survival of the species. But limiting choice for those who are desperate and not prepared to parent is too expensive and life-changing to ignore.

Obviously we do not always agree. We can keep trying to agree or let others, who can, force their will on us. Which will it be? There are people who want their beliefs to be law. Is that the American way? I think not.
