Trust your opinion?

I always enjoy reading this section of the paper. It’s interesting to see what others are concerned about. I have and will always defend the right to free speech.

However, before every election I’m perplexed by the multitude of letters telling me who I should vote for. What is the purpose of these letters? What is my motivation to blindly accept these opinions? I don’t know these letter writers, will never know them and quite frankly probably don’t want to know them. Could be nice enough people, could be wearing tin foil hats or running around in a clown suit.

Telling (expecting) me to value their opinion as much as they do is both foolish and counter-effective. Am I missing something? Just wondering.
