Students, teachers are hurting
Budget cuts are a shocking thing that’s affecting so many lives.
I walked into school one day, and sat down in my Spanish class. That’s when one of my favorite teachers, told us she will not be coming back next year due to budget cuts. She’s an absolutely amazing teacher, who is completely filled with energy. She brought her hands up to her face, smiled at us, and said that she’d been trying not to cry all day. It was terrible seeing it alter someone’s life directly.
Obviously, many teachers are being cut by these dramatic budget cuts. According to KREM2 News, schools in Spokane are giving 325 layoff notices. Teachers are losing their jobs, librarian positions are being eliminated, and many budgets for extracurriculars are being slaughtered. Obviously, this is terrible news for our teachers. They’re losing their jobs, but at the same time, students are losing their teachers. Many children have become attached to a teacher, or even a different staff member in the school that they may not see when the next school year rolls around.
All in all, budget cuts are dramatically hurting teachers, and they’re dragging students down too.
