Woodward is tough, fair

Add Spokesman-Review on Google

This is a response to the “Learn the ropes first” opinion submitted by Paul Schafer (May 24). I find the opinion submitted by Mr. Schafer offending and unnecessarily critical of Nadine Woodward, who is running for Spokane mayor.

Mr. Schafer shows that he is ignorant, chauvinistic and misogynistic when he says Ms. Woodward’s experience comes from the cushy perch as an anchorperson where hair, makeup and veneers usually play a more important role than the content of the news broadcast. Are you kidding me? Sounds like Mr. Schafer thinks the news is fake and being a news anchor is a piece of cake so we probably know where his allegiances lie and why he attacks Ms. Woodward.

Has he ever met Nadine Woodard? She is kind, intelligent, creative and caring. She is also tough and fair exactly the traits a mayor should have. In Mr. Schafer’s world a successful, attractive woman can’t be a leader and is a threat … sad!
