An option to Glenrose

Back during the time the county was considering the purchase of the racetrack they held a meeting at the fairgrounds when the expected turnout of the public was numbered in the tens. The meeting had several hundred and was standing room only. The subject of the racetrack was important to me as cars and racing were an important part of my life, so when I heard of another open meeting in Airway Heights a friend of mine and I attended the meeting.

The subject of one of the presentations addressed the potential for other uses of the land around the track other than supporting racing. He talked of the need in Spokane for a sports center with soccer fields, baseball and softball diamonds, football fields etc., etc You get the point. If Spokane wanted to host statewide tournaments in anything other than the basketball a facility that could support more than one game at a time had to be built. Presently a soccer tournament in this area requires multiple locations, which can be a problem if you are not familiar with the area.

So instead of trying to squeeze in a Sports Complex in a rural community with the added traffic, lights and noise, why not use property that the county purchased just for that purpose. By the way, I do not live in Glenrose but I sympathize with obvious concerns of the families that do live there.
