Support soccer, don’t tax it

What a crying shame. If youth soccer wasn’t already expensive with gear, travel etc, the county decides to go from charging $0 to charging $5 for parking at the soccer facility at Plantes Ferry Park.

Is this how part of the funding for the new Spokane Valley Sports Complex is going to be obtained, on the backs of youth soccer (article from The Spokesman-Review, April 30)? How is this going to affect low-income families, grandparents on a fixed income and families already struggling with a high cost of living?

This is youth soccer, where support for our next generation is important. It looks like we will not only be paying taxes for these facilities, but also paying for other projects as well.
