Poor mayoral choices

What a questionable field we are presented as choices this year. Not one of the mayoral candidates has run a 2,000-employee organization with a billion-dollar budget. This makes the employee count larger than that of Avista. Would any of the candidates even get a second look if applying for that CEO position? One touts 30 years as a news anchor - i.e. 30 years without a promotion. One appears to run a business - with himself and his wife the only apparent employees.

This is a serious job that deserves to have an incumbent with equally serious and proven skills. Might I court comments and controversy by suggesting that all candidates be measured on displayed and documented competence, rather than the abstract and unimportant?
