Sexual confusion at library

Children attending the library Drag Queen Story Hour can be greatly confused by the costumes of drag queens, fun playing dress up, and their underlying early message to children about sexual identity. As a longtime school counselor, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and employed also as a family therapist, with an accepting and liberal attitude, I think the presentation can create sexual identity confusion.

Most children like to play dress up, but do not understand the message of this transgender group that can create doubts and options about their gender. If they have fun dressing up in a costume or some other attire are they gay? Although trying to create empathy, it is still unclear to children.

We have always supported library levies, but have to question the wisdom of having this program, our support as taxpayers in the future, based on this likely confusing, possibly harmful mental health issue to children.
